Our Philosophy of Learning
Sensory, motor, perceptual, and language skills are introduced through materials and activities which are both child centered and teacher directed. Work is planned which emphasizes the process rather than the product. This encourages and fosters a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Based on the theory that children learn through play, Premier Academy's classroom routines encourage active involvement and meaningful experimentation. Skills are reinforced through repetition. Schedules are designed to balance structure and free choice, as well as active and quiet times.
Recognizing that children grow in predictable stages, we treat each child as an individual, working from the level each child has attained and moving forward one step at a time. We teach a love of learning by allowing children to experience their own pace of development and helping children to feel success without pressure.
"My 2 and a half year old daughter started in Premier Academy's PlayDay Class when she was 18 months old. Since then, her speaking skills have increased, she is calmer, and much more social. It was a good way for an only child to develop socially and be around other children her own age. Children need to be involved with others to help prepare them for grade school."
"I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you that my son went to a language recognition test for Kindergarten. The teacher giving the test was as impressed as I was. My son did an excellent job on all areas; counting, colors, shapes, letters, and reading. She told me that she has been giving that test for three days and my son was the first one that read. I need to congratulate all the staff of Premier Academy."
